Classroom News

The spring field trip to Southwick Zoo in Mendon, MA is on Friday, May 16^th. Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 will be leaving school at 8:30am and returning around 1:50pm. The fee for admission to the zoo and for the bus is $25.00 per student. Please pay the exact amount in cash or by check. Completed forms and payment are due by Friday, May 2^nd. The request form for chaperoning has been collected and we have reached out to all chaperones with detailed information for this trip.

STAR testing will begin May 5^rdand will be completed by May 26^th. Please continue to have your child read to you nightly. During this assessment, there will be questions that ask each child to read sentences independently and answer questions about what they have read. The more practice, the better! A copy of the scores will be sent home with your final report card. If I feel a conference is necessary before
then, I will schedule a time with you to review the results.

Kindergarten Graduation will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 9:00am in the Church Hall, lasting approximately sixty minutes. Any family members you wish to invite are also welcomed to attend. At the conclusion of this program, the kindergarten school year is completed, and your child will go home with you. We are very excited and will be making this a special day for everyone.

Kindergarten Classroom Wishlist

We participate in the Scholastic Book School Program. Our classroom code is H3CW8. Many of you are very aware of Scholastic Books because you have older children who have attended or who are attending St. Cecilia School. If this is your first experience, we would like to encourage you to consider building your child's library. It is a fairly inexpensive way to purchase books and it also supports our classroom library. When you purchase books, we get "points," which enable us to receive books for the classroom. Ordering these books is easily done online. The easiest and best method of payment is credit or debit card right on the Scholastic Website. We will receive notification when you place an order and will be watching for your books to arrive at school. Thank you in advance for supporting this important part of our kindergarten year.

Our reading series is Wonders 2023 published by McGraw Hill.

In math, we will be using the series, Progress in Mathematics published by Sadlier-Oxford. Math activities and vocabulary can be accessed at www.progressinmathematics.com for additional practice.

Our science program is called Little Kindergarten Science. It is an engaging program with hands- on activities.
