Classroom News
Just a reminder: Friday, October 6th is a PD Day. It is a distance learning day for all students. Friday’s work will be sent home in your child’s folder on Thursday. Please send the completed work back to school in your child’s folder on Tuesday the 10th. There is no school on Monday, October 9th, in celebration of Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day.
Pizza Fridays started on September 29th. You have received an order sheet in your child’s folder. If you wish to purchase pizza for your child, please send in payment and slip, which are due the Wednesday of that week. No Exceptions. Thank you.
Mrs. Ferreira sent home the Scholastic Book order forms. Our classroom code is H3CW8. Many of you are very aware of Scholastic Books because you have older children who have attended or who are attending St. Cecilia School. If this is your first experience, we would like to encourage you to consider building your child's library. It is a fairly inexpensive way to purchase books and it also supports our classroom library. When you purchase books, we get "points," which enable us to receive books for the classroom. Ordering these books is easily done online with a credit or debit card right on the Scholastic Website. We will receive notification when you place an order and will be watching for your books to arrive at school. If ordering, please place your order on or before Thursday, October 51h. Thank you in advance for supporting this important part of our kindergarten year.
The Walk-a-thon is on Monday, October 16th. The rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18th. Your child may participate in the walk if they have donations totaling $15.00 or more. With a $55.00 pledge, you are entered into a raffle prize of $100.00. The donor with the largest amount will win an Amazon Fire HD. Non-uniform dress-down days will be awarded for collecting pledges that are listed on the notice that was sent home. Everyone loves dress-down days, even us. Maybe someone in kindergarten will be the one to win the $100.00 raffle! Thank you in advance for your efforts and support with this undertaking. We know it is never an easy task for parents to be involved with fundraising events, but this is one of our largest sources of income, with the proceeds used to maintain and improve our facilities. Again, this event is so much fun, as well as so beneficial to our community. Thank you for participating!
Lifetouch will be taking photos at St. Cecilia School on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Students wear their school uniform for this photo, as it will be used for the school yearbook and class picture.
Save the Date: The St. Cecilia School PTO Trunk or Treat is on Monday, October 30th, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Set up for cars participating in this event is between 5:00pm to 5:30pm. Seven more cars are needed to make this event a success. If you are interested, please email Michele Malloy at [email protected].
On Wednesday, October 11th, the Free Flu Clinic will be at St. Cecilia School in the Church Hall from 3:30pm – 6:30pm. This clinic is for ages 3 and up. Online registrations is required to guarantee an appointment. If you have insurance, remember to bring you card. Register at schoolflu.com.
Our field trip to Salisbury Farm in Johnston, RI is on Thursday, October 26th. The children will learn how a farm operates, go on a wagon ride, navigate a corn maze, and pick a small pumpkin to bring home. We will end the day by eating our lunch in the farm’s pavilion area, so please send your child to school with a bag lunch. No glass bottles or lunch boxes, please. The cost for this trip is $26.50 per child. This includes admission to the farm and the fee for the bus. Chaperones are free. There is no limit for the number of chaperones allowed. If you want to chaperone, please fill out the bottom of the page and send it back to school with the permission slip and medical form. We ask that you use your own vehicle and follow the bus because the bus will be completely full. Car- pooling has worked in the past and hopefully this is an option for you. A completed background check and safe environment form is required to be a chaperone. If you need to complete a BCI check and/or safe environment form, please see Mrs. Zagorski in her office. She will provide you with the necessary forms.
Please send in $26.50, permission slip, and medical form for the trip by Tuesday, October 3rd. We need to process the checks and pay for the trip, so October 3rd is an important deadline. Any additional questions you have regarding our plans, do not hesitate to ask us. Please pay by check. You can make it out to St. Cecilia School. For planning purposes, this date is very important. Thank you for understanding.
